My Story
Hey everyone,
I'm here to share a journey that's deeply personal yet holds the promise of universal hope. As an individual in active recovery, I am sure that some of you can relate to some of the experiences that I have gone through on the roller coaster ride that alcohol addiction offers us. The truth is not pretty, but it paints a better picture of tomorrow, knowing that there is a life that you can have that is full of peace and happiness. This is how my journey began.
The journey begins on Page 1, it was a time when hanging out with the crowd, drinking, smoking and just shooting the breeze was the thing to do. It was fun and acceptable to indulge in such things. My life as a military brat was awesome, life was meant to be experienced, and that’s what we did. Yet somehow, the downside of what could happen was not talked about. So, the party continued and remained unchecked.
Page 2 saw me immersed in the “Social Buzz” chapter when partying was mandatory, and every night felt like a celebration. I was in my early 20s, unstoppable at anything that I put my mind to. As in my teen years, drinking too much was not considered. The party continued, without so much as a thought of what I was doing to my physical and mental well-being, and to those that I cared deeply about.
Then came Page 3—the “Denial Drama.” Here, I found myself questioning why life was unfair. I was not able to stay in a relationship for any length of time because I felt drinking was my only way to connect with someone that I was interested in until I met my wife, everything changed at that moment in time. I found love and, eventually, placed it in jeopardy by lying to myself about my drinking problem. My relationship with her and my two lovely daughters started sliding downhill quickly, and after several years of her putting up with my nasty and demeaning behavior, she mentally checked out of our relationship, and I was alone. I lost the love of my life for another chance to dance with denial. There was no desperation or will to fight for her. The booze was in full control of that part of my life. My reality was just an illusion of things being okay, and the party went on.
But it was on Page 4—the “Rehab Revelation”—when the party ended. Faced with the stark reality of losing my family, I finally heard what I had been ignoring and made the courageous decision to seek help. My wife made a phone call, and the next thing you know, I was in a Denver Treatment Center. It was there that I confronted my reasons for drinking and began the journey toward healing.
Leaving rehab - I found myself confronted with a new challenge: navigating the maze of recovery resources. I knew the importance of keeping the momentum going after rehab, and what I often felt was a disheartening experience—one that ultimately inspired the creation of Options by Page 4. Driven by the desire to spare others the same struggle, I set out to create a place of support and guidance; a dual platform where business professionals can showcase their services and individuals seeking help or information on professional sobriety programs in Colorado can be found under one roof.
As this new purpose started developing, I committed myself to additional education, gaining insights and skills that would deepen my understanding of addiction and recovery. With the support of my wife and kids, this new journey of self-discovery and growth is one that ultimately brought me here, to this moment, sharing my story with you and providing alcohol recovery support in Colorado.
The name “Page 4” isn't just a number—it's a symbol of transformation, of turning the page on the past and embracing a brighter, sober future. As we journey together through the pages of Options by Page 4, let's make this story one of strength, support, and the triumph of the human spirit.
